One of the most stressful parts about being a veteran is the anxiety that comes with it. The war has ended, but the mental toll can still be felt as veterans struggle to come to terms with their experiences during battle. It’s not uncommon for veterans to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression when returning from combat. While there are many ways to help your veteran patients cope with PTSD, you may need to take more time and effort than usual to make things feel less overwhelming. Here are some tips on how you can calm down your veteran patients:

Show your compassion with virtual reality.

Virtual reality is an excellent way to help veterans suffering from PTSD, anxiety, and depression. In addition, VR can help people feel less alone in their struggles because it allows them to be in a place that feels like home and where they feel comfortable.

We need to ensure veterans are being cared for and have the resources they need. So if you know someone who has been through military service, show them how much you care by sending them a gift or listening to them when they need it.
